I'm a DevOps Engineer looking to specialize. Looking at AWS vs Azure, which certification is more recognized by recruiters in the DevOps space? I want to master CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code—does one provider offer a better suite of native DevOps tools for automation?

When comparing AWS vs Azure for DevOps, both are highly valued, but the tools differ. AWS DevOps Engineer Professional is often seen as more technically rigorous because of the complexity of services like CodePipeline, CloudFormation, and OpsWorks. However, Azure DevOps (the service) is arguably the best integrated DevOps platform on the market, combining boards, repos, and pipelines in one place. Many companies use Azure DevOps even if they deploy to AWS! If you want to work in a "pure" cloud environment, AWS is a safe bet. But if you want to work in an environment that values integrated project management and automation, Azure certifications are incredibly lucrative right now.
Are you planning to focus on Terraform for your Infrastructure as Code, or are you looking to specialize in native tools like Bicep or CDK?
AWS has a slight edge in the DevOps community because of its long history with automation. Most open-source tools support AWS first and Azure second.
That’s a very valid point, Heather. The community support and third-party integrations for AWS are still miles ahead of anyone else in the DevOps space.
I’m leaning toward Terraform because it's cloud-agnostic, Justin. I want my skills to be portable. If I use Terraform, does it really matter which provider I certify in first, or will the underlying logic of the provider's resource naming still be a major hurdle?
