I have a background in Cyber Security and I want to move into cloud security. I'm analyzing to see which one has a more comprehensive security stack that I should master. I see many government jobs requiring Azure knowledge due to their contracts with Microsoft, but the private sector seems heavily skewed towards AWS. Which certification would offer me more freelance or consulting opportunities in the current market?

Do you think the rise of multi-cloud security tools like Wiz or Palo Alto Prisma makes it less important to be an expert in just one specific cloud?
I chose Azure because my current company uses it. The learning curve was smooth, and I find the security center very helpful for compliance tracking.
Lisa is right about the compliance aspect. Azure’s "Blueprints" and compliance dashboards are significantly more user-friendly for auditors compared to the more manual setup often required in AWS.
Security is a top priority for every organization right now. AWS offers a very granular identity and access management system, which is the foundation of cloud security. Their Security Specialty certification is one of the most difficult but rewarding ones out there. Azure, however, has the advantage of Sentinel and its built-in integration with the Windows ecosystem, which makes it a powerhouse for enterprise security operations centers. If you want to do freelance consulting, AWS has a larger pool of small to medium businesses that need help securing their infrastructure. For high-end government or enterprise consulting, Azure is the clear winner.
Jason, while those tools are great, you still need to understand the underlying native controls. You can't configure a third-party tool effectively if you don't understand how AWS VPCs or Azure VNETs work at a fundamental level. Being a specialist in at least one native platform is still the best career foundation before moving into those broader security orchestration tools.
