I've heard mixed things about foundational certs. If I master AWS but skip deep Python coding for now, can I still land a high-paying role in the US? How does the pay compare to someone who just knows advanced Excel and SQL for data analysis?

In the US market, an AWS certification is a powerful signal to employers. A Cloud Practitioner cert alone might get you into a junior support or sysadmin role, but the real money ( $120k+ ) starts at the Associate levels. Compared to a "pure" data analyst using Excel and SQL, cloud roles generally have a higher floor. You can start at $90k in cloud, whereas entry-level data entry/analysis might start at $65k.
Does anyone know if local US companies prefer AWS over Azure for entry-level remote roles? I see a lot of conflicting job postings lately.
I switched from Excel-heavy accounting to AWS Cloud Support. My salary jumped 40% in six months. It’s definitely the faster route.
That is an incredible jump, Gary! It proves that transitioning into cloud infrastructure is one of the most lucrative moves right now.
Most US startups and mid-market firms are heavily invested in AWS, Karen. Azure is huge in corporate/government sectors. If you want the "fastest" hire, AWS usually has more volume in the job boards.
