I'm a software developer looking to integrate AI into my apps. Microsoft recently updated the AI-102 exam. Does it cover the latest OpenAI integrations and Prompt Engineering, or is it still focused on older Cognitive Services like Speech and Vision APIs? I want to make sure the cert stays relevant in this fast-moving AI landscape.

Microsoft has been very aggressive in updating the AI-102. It now includes significant sections on Azure OpenAI Service, including deploying models, managing content filters, and implementing RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation). While the "classic" Cognitive Services are still there, the focus has shifted toward building "Intelligent Apps" that use LLMs. For a developer, this is incredibly valuable because it teaches you the enterprise side of AI—security, quotas, and responsible AI practices—which you don't get from just playing with a ChatGPT API. It’s definitely worth it to stand out.
Will this certification help me if I eventually want to move into a specialized Machine Learning role, or is it strictly for app developers?
It’s a great cert. The focus on "Responsible AI" is something many developers overlook but is becoming a huge requirement for corporate compliance.
So true, Linda. Knowing how to set up content safety filters is just as important as the code itself in a professional environment.
David, to answer your question, the AI-102 is for "AI Engineers" (the people who use the models), whereas the DP-100 is for "Data Scientists" (the people who build and train the models). If you want to dive into Python, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch, go for DP-100. But if you want to be the person who builds the next-gen AI-powered software for a corporation, AI-102 is the better fit. The roles are converging, but AI-102 is more about implementation and orchestration within the Azure cloud ecosystem.
