With ChatGPT and Jasper writing blogs and social copy, I’m wondering is AI replacing entry-level jobs in digital marketing? I’m seeing a lot of junior copywriter and SEO assistant roles being consolidated. Is it still worth pursuing a career in this domain, or is the entry-level market too saturated with AI-generated content to compete?

Digital marketing is definitely in the middle of a "quality over quantity" shift. Yes, AI can churn out a 500-word blog post in seconds, but search engines are getting better at de-ranking low-effort AI fluff. The entry-level roles that only involved "pumping out content" are indeed disappearing. However, there is a massive surge in demand for "Content Editors" and "SEO Strategists" who can guide the AI to produce high-value, E-A-T compliant material. You need to stop thinking of yourself as a writer and start thinking of yourself as a creative director for AI.
That’s a great way to put it, Rebecca. Since the focus is shifting to strategy, do you think internships should now focus more on AI prompting than on traditional writing skills?
The industry isn't dying; it's just getting faster. You have to learn to use the tools, or you will be replaced by someone who does. It's that simple
Well said, Pamela. It’s about adaptation. Ashley, don't be afraid of the tools—master them and show employers how you can use them to increase their ROI.
Tyler, absolutely. An intern who knows how to use AI to perform keyword research and then refine a draft is worth three interns who do everything manually. The efficiency gains are just too large for agencies to ignore. If you want to get hired today, you need to prove you can use these tools to deliver results faster without sacrificing the brand’s voice.
