I've been seeing a lot of chatter about Generative AI (ChatGPT, Gemini) lately and I’m curious how people in the Business Analysis field are actually using it. Is it replacing the need for manual requirements gathering, or is it just a fancy documentation tool? I’m worried about the long-term impact on the profession.

From my experience, Generative AI (ChatGPT, Gemini) acts as a powerful co-pilot rather than a replacement. I’ve used it to draft initial user stories and acceptance criteria, which saves hours of manual typing. However, it lacks the stakeholder empathy required for complex negotiations. You still need a human to bridge the gap between technical constraints and business needs. It’s excellent for brainstorming edge cases you might have missed in a discovery session, but don’t trust it blindly with sensitive data.
Are you finding that the quality of requirements is actually better, or just faster to produce? I’ve noticed some "hallucinations" in logic when I try to use it for complex process mapping.
It's a great tool for summarizing long meeting transcripts into actionable items. It makes the "boring" parts of the job much faster.
Exactly, Lisa! I’ve been doing the same for my project status reports. Generative AI (ChatGPT, Gemini) is a total game changer for documentation.
Kenneth, the speed is definitely there, but the quality depends on the prompt. For logic mapping, I find that breaking the process into smaller chunks helps. Generative AI (ChatGPT, Gemini) struggles with massive end-to-end flows but excels at refining specific business rules if you give it enough context from your initial interviews.
