Everyone was rushing into Web3, but now it feels like the momentum has shifted. Is specific blockchain coding still a top-tier skill, or is the skill gap actually in traditional cloud security instead? Is it overrated to focus solely on Solidity?

The "Blockchain Engineer" title became a bit of a fad during the bull run. Many developers learned Solidity but lacked basic knowledge of distributed systems or database management. Now that the hype has cooled, companies are looking for well-rounded engineers who can integrate decentralized components into existing stacks. If you can only write a smart contract but can't secure a server, you're going to struggle. The demand is now for hybrid roles, not just pure crypto devs.
Do you think the current cooling period is just a temporary phase before enterprise-level adoption takes off again?
I think generalist Software Engineering is always more valuable than specializing in a niche that depends on market volatility.
Precisely, Cynthia. A strong foundation in C++ or Java will get you much further in the long run than chasing every new language.
Scott, enterprise adoption is happening, but it looks different now. It is more about private chains and logistics tracking. The "get rich quick" dapp phase is over, so the skills required now are much more aligned with traditional enterprise architecture and high-level security.
