The question

I’m seeing more tools that automate Gantt charts and resource allocation. For those in , do you think AI will eventually replace us, or is the "human" side of conflict resolution and stakeholder management too complex for an algorithm?

Project management is about 20% logistics and 80% people. AI can handle the logistics—calculating paths, updating schedules, and flagging delays—beautifully. But it cannot walk into a room and resolve a conflict between two developers, nor can it negotiate with a frustrated client to manage their expectations. The soft skills, leadership, and emotional intelligence required to keep a team motivated and aligned are fundamentally human traits that no software can replace.

Couldn't an AI "negotiate" based on data-driven trade-offs and logical outcomes?

Logic isn't always the answer in human negotiations, Patrick. People often act on emotion or internal politics. An AI can't read the room or use empathy to build the trust necessary for a stakeholder to accept a difficult compromise or a project delay.

I think the boring administrative parts will be replaced, which actually lets me focus more on my team.

I agree, Pamela. Moving away from manual tracking to actual leadership is a win for every project manager I know.
