Our company is moving away from Slack and going full-tilt into Microsoft Teams for voice, meetings, and collaboration. I’ve been tasked with the rollout. What are the trickiest parts of the MS-700 exam? I’m particularly worried about the "Governance" and "External Access" configurations, as our legal team is very strict.

The MS-700 is deceptively deep. The hardest parts are usually the "Direct Routing" for voice and the complex hierarchy of "Meeting Policies." For your legal team, focus heavily on the "Guest Access" vs. "External Access" (Federation) settings—many people get those confused on the exam. You also need to understand "Lifecycle Management," such as how to expire inactive teams automatically. I highly suggest setting up a Microsoft 365 Developer tenant. It’s free and gives you 25 licenses to play with all the admin center settings, which is essential because the exam loves situational screenshots.
Do I need to know a lot of PowerShell for the MS-700, or can most of the tasks be done through the Teams Admin Center GUI?
Focus on the "Security and Compliance" center too. Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for Teams is a big part of the governance section now.
Agreed, Sarah. For an admin, ensuring that sensitive data doesn't leak in a chat is a top priority, and the exam reflects that reality.
Richard, to answer your question, you don't need to be a PowerShell scriptwriter, but you must recognize the cmdlets for bulk actions. The exam will often ask, "Which command should you run to change the policy for 500 users at once?" The GUI is too slow for that, so you need to know commands like Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy. Don't let it scare you; usually, the command names are very logical. If you memorize the prefixes for Teams and Skype (which is still used in the background), you'll be fine on those questions.
