I have limited time each day to study. If my goal is to maximize my income in the next 12 months in the United States, should I focus on AWS or Python? I already know some basic SQL and Excel, but I want to reach that next level of pay.

If you want the fastest "payday," go with AWS. Learning Python to a professional level where you can pass a technical interview takes significant time—usually 6 to 12 months of consistent practice. You can get an AWS Solutions Architect Associate cert in 3 months if you study hard. In the US, that cert alone acts as a massive "hire me" sign for DevOps and Cloud roles that pay very well.
Wouldn't learning Python actually help automate tasks within AWS, making you even more valuable in the long run?
Start with AWS. The barrier to entry for Python-only roles is much higher due to the sheer number of CS grads you'll be competing against.
Very true. AWS provides a more specialized niche that distinguishes you from the general pool of developers.
Absolutely, Brian. Integrating Python with AWS via Lambda functions is where the really high salaries ( $150k+ ) are. But for the first 12 months, the cert is the faster win.
