I am a student trying to decide which ecosystem to invest my time in. Looking at the current trends, it seems like React has more job postings, but does Angular pay more because it's used by large corporations and banks? I want to know which skill set will be more valuable in the next few years for someone looking to work in the US tech sector.

React currently dominates the market in terms of sheer volume. Almost every startup and mid-sized company uses React, so you'll see a lot more job openings. However, Angular remains the "Gold Standard" for enterprise environments like insurance, government, and banking. Because Angular is more complex and less "trendy," there are often fewer qualified candidates, which can lead to higher salaries for senior Angular developers. If you enjoy building large, structured internal tools, go Angular. If you want to work for innovative startups or consumer apps, React is the way to go.
Do you think the rise of "Full-stack" frameworks like Next.js and Remix is making the pure "React library" skill set less valuable than someone who knows a complete framework like Angular?
React has a much bigger community and more open-source components. If you get stuck on a problem, you’ll find an answer on StackOverflow much faster for React than for Angular.
I agree, Amanda. The sheer amount of resources available for React makes it much easier for self-taught developers to reach a professional level quickly.
That’s a sharp observation, Matthew. We are seeing a "Framework-ization" of React. Learning just React isn't enough anymore; you have to learn the ecosystem (Next.js, Tailwind, TanStack Query). Angular developers have always had to learn the "full stack" of the frontend framework. In the end, the market value lies in being a great problem solver. If you understand the underlying concepts of state, routing, and components, you can switch between React and Angular in a few weeks if the job requires it.
