I’m about to submit my application for the CAPM, but I’m worried about the audit process. I have my high school diploma and the 23 hours of project management education ready, but what exactly do they ask for if you are audited? How long does it delay the whole process?

Don't panic! Audits are usually random. If you are selected, PMI will ask you to upload electronic copies of your education certificate and your diploma. Since the CAPM doesn't require professional hours, the audit is much simpler than the PMP one. I was audited in 2023, and once I uploaded my documents, they approved it within about five business days. Just make sure your 23-hour course was from a reputable provider so the certificate is easily verified. It’s a very straightforward process as long as you have your paperwork organized.
Did you get your 23 hours through a live classroom setting or an online self-paced course? I'm wondering if one is more likely to trigger an audit.
Just have your PDFs ready to go before you hit submit. If you have the documents on hand, an audit is just a minor speed bump of a few days
Thanks, Barbara. That makes me feel a lot better. I have all my certificates saved in a folder, so I'll go ahead and submit my application today!
Linda, the format of the course doesn't impact your chances of an audit at all. PMI treats Registered Education Providers and other reputable online platforms equally. As long as the course covers the project management learning objectives, you are perfectly fine regardless of whether it was in-person or digital.
