Eligibility and Pre-requisites

For MSP Certification

MSP is highly regarded worldwide since it offers a two-part confirmation of both your knowledge base and your competence to utilize it. The learning journey is simple and aims to develop skills, rather than merely assessing recall.

Eligibility Criteria:

Approved Instruction (Required): It is necessary to finish an approved MSP training course from a PeopleCert ATO (Accredited Training Organization) such as ours. This criterion is an absolute requirement.

MSP 5th Edition Foundation Exam: This represents the initial challenge. It is a multiple-choice, closed-book examination that confirms your grasp of the MSP framework's concepts, themes, and procedures. Our instruction completely readies you for this, and the exam voucher is incorporated.

MSP 5th Edition Practitioner Exam: This serves as the genuine assessment. To be eligible for this examination, you must have successfully passed the Foundation exam. The Practitioner exam is a scenario-based, open-book test that evaluates your capability to deploy the MSP framework within a real-life program setting.

No Recorded Experience: Unlike PMP, MSP does not mandate you to record and substantiate extensive experience hours. The only requirement is finishing the certified instruction and achieving a passing grade on the Foundation exam.

Lesson 1: Quality & Assurance Management

Build quality into the transformation, not just the projects. Learn to define programme-level quality standards and implement an assurance strategy that validates project outputs against the Blueprint.

Lesson 2: Blueprint Design & Delivery

This is a core MSP certification topic. Learn to design the "future state" (the Blueprint) by defining the Processes, Organization, Technology, and Information (POTI) model of the new, changed organization.

Lesson 3: Planning & Control

Master the Programme Plan. Learn to group projects into "Tranches" to manage delivery in stages. You'll master exception-based control, not day-to-day micromanagement.

Module 4 The MSP Transformational Flow ▾

Lesson 1: Identifying a Programme

Learn where programmes come from. Master the process of taking a high-level strategic objective (the "Programme Mandate") and shaping it into a formal programme.

Lesson 2: Defining a Programme

Build the machine. This is where you create the full Business Case, the Programme Plan, and all governance strategies. This is the most critical process in the MSP certification syllabus.

Lesson 3: Managing the Tranches

Control the delivery. Learn how to authorize and manage each "Tranche" (group of projects), ensuring they deliver the capabilities defined in the Blueprint.

Module 5 Flow, Closure & Exam Preparation ▾

Lesson 1: Delivering Capability & Realizing Benefits

Master the core loop of MSP. Learn how to manage the transition of new capabilities into live operations and, most importantly, how to track that the intended benefits are actually being realized.

Lesson 2: Closing a Programme

Shut it down gracefully. Learn the formal process for closing a programme, demobilizing the team, and transitioning all ongoing benefit realization to the business-as-usual operations.

Lesson 3: Foundation & Practitioner Exam Strategy

Develop test-taking strategies. We'll cover time management for the Foundation exam and, crucially, how to dissect and answer the complex scenario-based questions in the open-book MSP Practitioner exam.

What is MSP (Managing Successful Programmes)? ▾

MSP is an internationally recognized framework for programme management. It offers a structured methodology for governing complex business transformations that encompass multiple interconnected projects. While PMP focuses on a single project, MSP concentrates on coordinating several projects to realize a strategic business benefit.

What is the difference between MSP Foundation and MSP Practitioner? ▾

Foundation: This is the entry level. It is a closed-book, multiple-choice assessment that confirms you grasp the MSP framework, terminology, and core principles. Practitioner: This is the advanced level. It is an open-book, scenario-based examination that confirms you can effectively apply the MSP framework to a complex programme. Successfully passing the Foundation is mandatory to attempt the Practitioner. This MSP training prepares you for both levels.

What are the eligibility requirements for MSP certification? ▾

There are no official experience requirements (e.g., 4,500 hours) like those for PMP. The only mandatory criterion is that you must complete an accredited MSP training course from a PeopleCert ATO such as iCert Global.

How much does the MSP certification exam cost? ▾

The exam vouchers are expensive, but both the Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers are covered in our Instructor-Led and Classroom training packages. There are no additional exam fees.

How many questions are on the MSP Foundation exam? ▾

The Foundation exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions. You are allocated 60 minutes to complete the test.

What is the passing score for MSP Foundation? ▾

The required passing score is 60%, or 36 out of 60 questions answered correctly. Our training is structured to ensure you consistently achieve scores of 80-90%.

How many questions are on the MSP Practitioner exam? ▾

The Practitioner exam is a sophisticated, scenario-based assessment. It contains 70 questions, and you are given 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to finish it.

What is the passing score for MSP Practitioner? ▾

The passing score is 60%, or 42 out of 70 questions answered correctly. This is an open-book exam, meaning you are permitted to use your official MSP 5th Edition guide.

Can I take the MSP certification exams online? ▾

Yes. All MSP exams are administered online by PeopleCert utilizing their secure, proctored system. You can take them from your home or office in the local area or anywhere with a reliable internet connection.

What happens if I fail an MSP exam? ▾

Failing is a momentary setback, not a final conclusion. Our entire program is engineered for success on the first attempt. However, if you are unsuccessful, our pass guarantee includes free re-training. You also have the option to purchase a "Take2" retake voucher from PeopleCert when you make your initial booking for a small fee.

How long is my MSP certification valid? ▾

Your Foundation certification is valid indefinitely (for life). Your MSP Practitioner certification is valid for 3 years.

What study materials are recommended for the MSP exams? ▾

The only materials you require are the official "Managing Successful Programmes 5th Edition" guide and our comprehensive, accredited MSP training materials, which include our 1000+ question simulator. The official guide is essential, as it is the sole resource permitted during the open-book Practitioner exam.

How do I renew my MSP Practitioner certification? ▾

You have two available options: Retake: Attempt the full Practitioner exam again within the 3-year validation period. CPD: Accumulate and log 20 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points each year through PeopleCert's MyAxelos subscription.

Is MSP certification better than PMP? ▾

This is the incorrect comparison. They are distinct tools for different requirements. PMP proves your ability to manage a single project. MSP proves your ability to govern a strategic transformation. MSP is the logical advancement for senior PMPs who seek to transition into executive-level Programme Director or Head of Transformation roles.

What is the "MSP 5th Edition"? ▾

It represents the latest revision of the Managing Successful Programmes framework, which was released in 2020. It is designed to be more flexible and streamlined compared to the older 4th Edition. Our MSP certification course is fully aligned with this modern 5th Edition.
