Dave Matawitz is the Director of Programs for Combatants (CG/DDG) at BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair, where he oversees ship repair planning, scheduling, cost management, future resource allocation, and overall program execution. He manages coordination across BAE trades, subcontractors, and government entities, serving as the primary customer representative for all aspects of Cruiser and Destroyer maintenance and modernization. He also leads major efforts including Depot Repairs, CNO Modernization, Continuous Maintenance, and Emergent Maintenance for San Diego Navy ships. Before joining BAE Systems, he served as the Director for Maritime Laser Weapon Systems at Northrop Grumman.
Matawitz retired as a U.S. Navy Captain after a distinguished 30-year career as a Surface Warfare Officer, commissioned through the NROTC program at the Virginia Military Institute. His sea tours ranged from Damage Control Assistant to Commanding Officer aboard multiple ships, with deployments to the Indian Ocean and Arabian Gulf. His shore assignments included roles in Europe, the Bureau of Naval Personnel, OPNAV Staff, and Pacific Fleet training commands, ultimately serving as Chief of Staff for Commander Strike Forces Training, Pacific. His naval career concluded with his final role as Commodore of Afloat Training Group, Pacific.
