With everyone talking about Generative AI, I’m wondering how this affects the AWS vs Azure landscape for jobs. Does Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI give Azure an edge in the US job market for AI-focused cloud roles, or is AWS SageMaker still the industry standard for engineers?

The AI boom is definitely shifting the AWS vs Azure dynamic. Currently, in the US, Azure is gaining a massive amount of "mindshare" because of its exclusive access to OpenAI services. Companies are scrambling to hire Azure AI Engineers to integrate LLMs into their business processes. However, AWS still has a much deeper set of tools for traditional Machine Learning with SageMaker. If you want to work on the cutting edge of GenAI, Azure might have more "hype-driven" opportunities right now. But for a solid career in data science and scalable ML infrastructure, AWS is still the titan in the US market
Do you think specialized AI certifications will eventually become more important than the general AWS vs Azure architect certifications?
Microsoft is winning the PR war with AI, but in my experience, the actual job openings for AWS vs Azure AI roles are still mostly on the AWS side for now.
That’s true, Victor. AWS has been doing this for a long time, so their ecosystem for production-grade ML is very mature, which US tech leads still prefer.
Steven, I believe so. In the US, we are already seeing "AI Architect" roles that require specific knowledge of Bedrock or Azure AI Studio. The platform almost becomes secondary to your ability to manage model deployments and token costs effectively.
