The question

With AI now capable of detecting threats and responding to incidents in real-time, I'm curious about the AI impact on jobs in Cyber Security. Will we see a decrease in the number of Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts needed as the software becomes more self-healing and proactive?

The AI impact on jobs in cybersecurity is unique because the "adversary" is also using AI. This creates a "Red Queen" effect where we need more skilled humans to manage sophisticated AI-driven defense systems. While Tier 1 alert monitoring is being automated, the demand for Tier 2 and Tier 3 analysts who can perform deep forensic analysis is at an all-time high. AI is reducing the "noise," not the need for expert human judgment in high-stakes breaches.

Do you think the AI impact on jobs here means that a certification in AI/ML is now more important than a traditional CISSP for new security pros?

I wouldn't say more important, Nathan, but rather a necessary supplement. You still need the security fundamentals, but you can't defend a modern network without understanding how the underlying algorithms operate.

AI handles the repetitive pings, allowing us to focus on the actual sophisticated hacking attempts. It’s a win for job quality.

Definitely agree. The AI impact on jobs has actually reduced my burnout levels significantly by filtering out 90% of the false positives.
