Are there any open source projects to contribute to for experience?

The question

I am trying to break into the industry and want to add some actual production-level experience to my resume. Does anyone know of active, well-maintained blockchain open source projects that welcome contributors? I am particularly interested in working on core protocol infrastructure or tooling libraries rather than just another NFT marketplace. Where can I find a good list of repositories to start contributing to today?

Verified summary

High-integrity blockchain infrastructure projects like Hyperledger Besu and Go-Ethereum accept external contributions through their public issue trackers, provided the submitted code meets rigorous performance and security standards.

Stop looking for a list and start auditing the issue trackers of Hyperledger Besu or Go-Ethereum directly. These projects require high-integrity code, so focus on fixing minor documentation gaps or latent performance bugs to prove your technical competence before attempting a core PR.
