When evaluating AWS vs Azure for career growth, you have to look at the market segments. AWS still holds the largest overall market share, making it a powerhouse for startups and tech-forward companies. However, Azure is growing at a massive rate within Fortune 500 companies because of its seamless integration with existing Microsoft ecosystems like Office 365 and Active Directory. If you enjoy working with a wide variety of open-source tools and diverse service offerings, AWS is excellent. But if you want to tap into the massive enterprise migration market, Azure is currently offering incredible job stability and competitive salaries.
Are you planning to work primarily with Linux-based stacks or are you more comfortable in a Windows-heavy environment for your daily tasks?
AWS generally has more job postings, but Azure is catching up fast in the corporate world. It really depends on the specific industry you want to enter.
Michelle is right. Industry focus is key! I noticed that many healthcare and financial firms are leaning toward Azure for compliance reasons.
I’ve mostly worked with Linux, Paul. Does that mean AWS is the "automatic" choice for me, or has Azure caught up enough in the Linux space that it wouldn't be a disadvantage to choose the Microsoft route? I've heard they have a lot of Linux VMs running now.
