Which cloud platform offers better job prospects in 2025 AWS or Azure?

The question

I'm currently looking to transition into cloud computing and I'm torn between focusing on Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure. From an SEO perspective, I keep seeing both trending, but I want to know which one actually has more active job openings right now. Does AWS still lead the market in terms of startup demand, or has Azure's enterprise integration made it the better choice for long-term career stability? I'm particularly interested in roles related to and how they compare for DevOps engineers.

Based on current market trends, AWS still maintains the largest global market share, which naturally translates to a higher volume of job postings. If you look at tech-heavy regions or the startup ecosystem, AWS is almost always the default infrastructure. However, Azure is catching up rapidly within the Fortune 500 space because of its seamless integration with existing Microsoft services like Active Directory and Office 365. For a DevOps engineer, AWS offers a more mature suite of tools, but Azure's growth in hybrid cloud environments is creating a massive demand for specialists. Generally, AWS pays slightly more on average, but Azure provides incredible stability in corporate sectors.

That is a great breakdown, but have you considered how geographical location affects this? In some European markets, I've noticed Azure actually has more local enterprise listings than AWS. Do you think a multi-cloud approach is becoming mandatory now?

Thomas, you make a valid point about regional demand. While AWS leads globally, Azure is massive in the UK and parts of Europe due to government and banking contracts. Regarding your multi-cloud question, while being a specialist in one is the best way to start, having a working knowledge of both platforms definitely makes your resume stand out to recruiters in 2025.

I would suggest starting with AWS if you want flexibility across different industries. It has more documentation and a larger community for beginners to learn from quickly.

I totally agree with Laura. The AWS ecosystem is so vast that once you understand their logic, picking up Azure or even GCP becomes significantly easier for any engineer.
