I’m a career changer coming from a retail management background. I have no direct IT experience, but I want to move into Tech Project Management. Is the capm certification respected enough by tech recruiters to overcome my lack of industry experience, or will they just ignore me because I don’t have the full PMP yet?

Transitioning from retail to tech is a big jump, but the capm certification is probably the best tool you have to prove you speak the professional "language" of projects. Tech companies, especially those using Agile or Scrum, value the CAPM because it shows you understand lifecycle management and risk. While it won't make you a Senior PM overnight, it qualifies you for Project Coordinator or Junior PM roles. In my experience hiring for entry-level tech roles, a candidate with a capm certification always goes to the top of the pile because it proves they have the discipline to study for and pass a proctored, global exam.
Have you thought about pairing the capm certification with a basic technical cert like CompTIA A+?

I actually considered that, Mark! I think getting the capm certification first gives me the management framework, and then I can add a technical layer to make my resume "bulletproof" for those IT Project Coordinator openings.
