Who is the CMMI Institute? ▾

What is a Lead Appraiser? ▾

A Lead Appraiser is a CMMI Institute-certified individual authorized to lead a formal SCAMPI A appraisal team. They are the ultimate authority in determining if an organization meets the requirements for a specific maturity level. Our instructors are certified Lead Appraisers.

Can my company get to Maturity Level 3 without hiring an expensive consultant? ▾

It's extremely difficult. The model is complex, and preparing for an appraisal is a massive undertaking. The most cost-effective approach is to build internal expertise by getting your own people certified (like you) and then hiring a Lead Appraiser for guidance and the final appraisal.

Do I need to be a software developer to understand CMMI-DEV? ▾

No. You need to understand the process of development, not how to write code. Project managers, QA managers, and process leads are often the key drivers of CMMI implementation.

Is CMMI still relevant in an Agile world? ▾

Yes, absolutely. This is a common misconception. CMMI tells you what to do (e.g., manage requirements, plan your work), not how to do it. You can absolutely satisfy CMMI practices using Agile methods like Scrum and Kanban.

What is the official CMMI Associate exam like? ▾

How much does the CMMI Associate exam cost? ▾

No. The official CMMI Institute curriculum, expert instructors, and hands-on exercises are identical. The only difference is the schedule.
